Title: Scanned Images have Black Lines or Streaks

Symptom:
 
Scanned images have black lines, streaks or the image is black and or blank.
 
Cause:
 
There may be a corrupt calibration file or dirt, ink, and debris obstructing the lens.
 
Solution:
 
  • The most common cause of lines is dirt or fingerprints on the glass as well as dust within a feed mechanism. Click the link at the bottom of this page applicable to your scanner type for cleaning instructions.
  • Please verify that the power supply is the one that shipped with the scanner, and it is plugged directly into a wall outlet. Power flux or "sag" can impact scanner functions and distort resulting images.
  • Ensure that you have plenty of system resources available.
  • Reinstalling the scanner driver will refresh the calibration file.
