Title: Unable to Calibrate a Strobe Sheetfed Scanner

Scanner Models: RoadWarrior, XP100, XP200, XP220, XP300
You are getting a message stating that the calibration failed or image quality remains poor even after calibration (eg overly faint or dark scans, black scans, fuzzy scans, etc).
The software has failed to write the calibration files or the calibration files have become corrupt.
Solution 1 - Calibrate the scanner with a white sheet of paper
  1. Open the Windows Control Panel
  2. Double-Click on "Scanners and Cameras"
    • If you do not see "Scanners and Cameras", double-click on "Printers and Other Hardware"
    • Double-Click on "Scanners and Cameras"
  3. Right-click on the Strobe scanner listed here and select "Properties"
  4. Select the "Advanced" tab then click on the "Calibrate" button
  5. When prompted, insert the a white page
  6. After the process completes, repeat steps 3 and 4, using the calibration page

Solution 2 - Run the Calibration Fix utility

If calibrating the scanner with white paper does not resolve the problem, run the Calibration_Fix.exe utility to automatically set permissions to the calibration files and place new calibration files on your computer, by-passing the normal calibration processes.
  1. Click here and select "Save"
  2. In the Save As window, click on the desktop Icon
  3. Click Save
  4. Once Calibration_Fix.exe downloads, close or minimize any open windows to see your Windows desktop
  5. Double-click on the Calibration_Fix.exe file on your Windows desktop
  6. If prompted, click "Run"
  7. A window open while the utility runs. This window will automatically close once the utility is complete.
  8. The scanner should now be calibrated correctly

Technical Note: The Calibration_Fix.exe utility automatically grants full read and write permission to the scanners calibration files for anybody who has logged on to the computer as well as Administrators, Everyone, Authenticated Users, and System. The utility then clears any existing calibration files and replaces them with clean ones. If you would like to set the permissions manually, the calibration files are located as follows:

All OneTouch 4.0 scanners: C:\Program Data\Visioneer

All OneTouch 4.0 scanners: C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Visioneer
XP100 OneTouch 3.0: C:\Windows\Twain_32\XP100
XP200 OneTouch 3.0: C:\Windows\System32\STBXP200

Solution 3 - Reinstall the driver
