VIS1069 - Error Code 1713 PaperPort Error

Symptom:

When attempting to uninstall PaperPort from the Add/Remove Programs list or by using the "Remove" option from the install CD you get "Error Code 1713" and are unable to remove the PaperPort program.

Cause:

This error occurs when the installation of PaperPort has been corrupted and is unable to remove the registry keys associated to the PaperPort program. When receiving this error you will be unable to upgrade properly over PaperPort. This problem is most commonly seen on Windows XP when Service Pack 2 is installed due to a conflict with PaperPort 8.0, however it can be seen anytime the PaperPort installation has become corrupted.

Solution:

The Technical Support department recommends running through the Quick Uninstall instructions appropriate to your version of Windows as the uninstall utility that Visioneer supplies will remove all PaperPort files and registry keys for PaperPort 7.0, 8.0 & 9.0. Running through this process will not remove your scanned documents but will allow you to start with a clean install of the PaperPort software.
