Symptom:

How do I Clean the scanner?

Cause:

Vertical streaking is typically caused by paper dust, dirt, correction fluid or other blockage on the scanner glass.

Solution:

Regularly cleaning your scanner can help to keep and maintain optimal image quality.

Materials Needed:
  • 1 bottle of Isopropyl rubbing alcohol (95%)
  • Soft cleaning cloth
    or
  • Screen wipes dampened with Isopropyl rubbing alcohol
Please unplug the power cord from the scanner

Instructions:
  1. Open the scanner lid
  2. Dampen the cleaning cloth with the Isopropyl alcohol or open a screen wipe
  3. Gently wipe down the scanner glass
  4. Gently wipe down the white backing on the underside of the scanner lid
  5. If you have a scanner with a transparency lamp in the lid, verify there is no dirt stuck on the lamp in the lid which would cause lines in your 35mm slide or negative scans
  6. Close the cover when you are finished
  7. Plug the power cord back into the scanner

If you are still seeing black lines or streaks in your scanned image, there may be a corrupt driver calibration file. For instructions on ReInstalling Your Scanner Driver, choose your Operating System below:
