You want to know if the software provided with your scanner will work on Windows Vista.
 
Answer:
 
This article is to be used as a reference only and will be updated periodically as more information is available. Most scanners currently being sold are fully Vista compatibility. Older products may or may not be supported on Vista. Please check your product download page to see if a Vista Beta or Certified driver is available for your product using the links below:
  • Visioneer United States: Once on the support page, select your Product Family. Then select your scanner model and click on "Drivers and Manuals".
  • Visioneer Europe: Once on the support page, select your Product Family, then select your scanner model, then click on "Drivers and Manuals".
  • Xerox United States: Once on the support page select your scanner model.
  • Xerox Europe: Once on the support page, select your scanner product family then product.

Bundled Software

A Vista compatible version of the bundled software is available for most products. If available, a Vista compatible installation disk can be requested free of charge (plus shipping and handling) from customer service: Other software

  • The software that came on the installation CD with each scanner may NOT have been certified for Vista Compatibility.
  • Please check the disk to verify if it is Vista compatible.
  • The software initially provided with each scanner is going through LIMITED testing in the "as is" state without any patches. You may refer to the below list for some details and results of this testing.
    • PaperPort 8: PaperPort 8 will not have any updates, if you install PaperPort 8 on Windows Vista you will not be able to uninstall it. No support will be provided if PaperPort 8 is installed. Do not install this version of PaperPort on a Windows Vista computer.
    • PaperPort 9: PaperPort printers will not install.
    • PaperPort 10: PaperPort printers will not install. Unable to scan from within PaperPort 10SE when installed on Vista Ultimate.
    • PaperPort 11: The latest version of PaperPort 11 is Vista compatible.
    • ArcSoft PhotoImpressions or Scrapbook Suite: PhotoImpressions does not automatically link to OneTouch. You can add the application under the OneTouch properties.
    • Corel PaintShop ProX: Windows will turn off Aero automatically when application is launched and display error messages. Scans completed successfully.
    • OmniPage 12: Installing and using this software worked in connection to the scanner driver. Internet Explorer 7 failed to function after installing this software. No software patch is available for this version of OmniPage to make it fully compatible with Vista. Uninstall OmniPage 12 and Internet Explorer 7 will reinitialize and perform as expected.
    • OmniPage 14: DO NOT INSTALL this software on a computer with Vista; it has been found to corrupt Vista beyond repair. No support will be provided if OmniPage 14 is installed.
    • OmniPage 15: The latest version of OmniPage 15 is Vista compatible.
    • NewSoft Presto BizCard: The latest version of BizCard is Vista compatible.
    • Adobe Reader 8: You may receive an error: "The Temp folder is on a drive that is full or is inaccessible" when installing this software. For information on resolving this issue, see Technote 333643 in Adobe's knowledge base.
    • Adobe PhotoShop 7: This application is not provided with any of our scanners limited testing only.To install this software on Windows Vista Ultimate edition, you must first right-click on the software installation file, select "Properties", click on the "Compatibility" tab and set the properties to run in Compatibility Mode for Windows XP Service Pack 2.
