Title: Error Code on Scanner

  Xerox: DM150, DM152, DM162, DM252, DM262, DM262i, DM272, DM632
 
Symptom:
 
There is an error code on your scanner. Common errors are E1, E2, E3, E4, E5, E6, E7, E8, E9, E10, E11, E12, E13, E14, or E15. The scanner LCD will flash an 'E' then then number.
 
Solution:
 
Below is a list of errors with different steps to resolve the problem. Follow the suggestions one at a time to see if they resolve the problem. If not, move on to the next step. Turn the scanner off and back on between each step to see if the error has cleared.

DocuMate 152 or Patriot 430
  • 0 - Not connected to computer
    1. Verify that the USB cable is connected to the back of the scanner and the computer
    2. Connect the scanner directly to the back of the computer
    3. Test the scanner in a different USB port on the computer
    4. Test with a different USB cable
  • E8 - Paper Jam or Paper Tray Error
    1. Open the ADF door and clear out any paper jams
    2. If the scanner is misfeeding or feeding multiple pages, you should clean the scanner and may need to replace the ADF pad

    3. Make sure there is nothing interfering with the paper sensor (which is a black lever located just to the right of the ADF pad)
    4. Reseat the paper tray follow the instructions under the heading under "E8" in VIS1061 - Error Code E8 or E9 on Scanner LED Display
  • E10 - ADF door open
    1. Open then close the ADF door
    2. Verify the lid snaps into place when closed
  • For all other errors
    1. Plug the AC adapter directly to the wall
    2. Verify you are using the correct AC adapter: 24V 2.0A
    3. Unplug the USB cable from the back of the scanner then turn the scanner off and back on with the USB cable disconnected. If the scanner now displays a '0', follow the steps under '0' above.
DocuMate 632 and Patriot 680
  • 0 - Not connected to computer
    1. Verify that the USB cable is connected to the back of the scanner and the computer
    2. Connect the scanner directly to the back of the computer
    3. Test the scanner in a different USB port on the computer
    4. Test with a different USB cable
  • E4 or E9 - Paper jam error
    1. Open the ADF door and remove any paper jams
    2. If the scanner is misfeeding or feeding multiple pages, you should clean the scanner and may need to replace the ADF pad

    3. Turn off the scanner then unplug and replug the ADF cable
  • E5 - ADF cover open
    1. Open then close the ADF door
    2. Make sure the door snaps into place
    3. Turn off the scanner then unplug and replug the ADF cable
  • E7 - Scanner locked error
    1. Turn the scanner off then move the lock switch to the "Unlocked" position. The lock switch is located on the left side of the scanner.
    2. Plug the power for the scanner directly into the wall, not in a surge protector or battery backup
  • E8 - Scanner lid open
    1. Close the lid on the scanner
  • For all other errors
    1. Plug the AC adapter directly to the wall
    2. Verify you are using the correct AC adapter: 24V 2.0A
    3. Unplug the USB cable from the back of the scanner then turn the scanner off and back on with the USB cable disconnected. If the scanner now displays a '0', follow the steps under '0' above.
DocuMate 752 and Patriot 780
  • 0 - Not connected to computer
    1. Verify that the USB cable is connected to the back of the scanner and the computer
    2. Connect the scanner directly to the back of the computer
    3. Test the scanner in a different USB port on the computer
    4. Test with a different USB cable
  • E9 or E16 - Paper jam error
    1. Open the ADF door and remove any paper jams
    2. If the scanner is misfeeding or feeding multiple pages, you should clean the scanner and may need to replace the ADF pad

    3. Turn off the scanner then unplug and replug the ADF cable
  • E10 - ADF cover open
    1. Open then close the ADF door
    2. Make sure the door snaps into place
    3. Turn off the scanner then unplug and replug the ADF cable
  • E12 - Scanner locked error
    1. Turn the scanner off then move the lock switch to the "Unlocked" position. The lock switch is located on the left side of the scanner.
    2. Plug the power for the scanner directly into the wall, not in a surge protector or battery backup
  • E13 - Scanner lid open
    1. Close the lid on the scanner
  • For all other errors

    3. Unplug the USB cable from the back of the scanner then turn the scanner off and back on with the USB cable disconnected. If the scanner now displays a '0', follow the steps under '0' above.
DocuMate 272, 262, 262i, 252, Patriot 470 and Strobe XP470
  • 0 - Not connected to computer
    1. Verify that the USB cable is connected to the back of the scanner and the computer
    2. Connect the scanner directly to the back of the computer
    3. Test the scanner in a different USB port on the computer
    4. Test with a different USB cable
  • E6 - ADF cover open
    1. Open then close the ADF door
    2. Make sure the door snaps into place
  • E9 or E10 - Paper jam error
    1. Open the ADF door and remove any paper jams
    2. If the scanner is misfeeding or feeding multiple pages, you should clean the scanner and may need to replace the ADF pad
