Symptom:
 
You want to enable or disable UAC on a computer running Windows Vista.

Warning: Disabling UAC reduces the overall system security. If you need to disable UAC for software installation or other operations, it is recommended that you re-enable UAC when done. Check with your system administrator for more details.
 
Solution:
 
  1. Click on the Windows Start button
  2. Open the Control Panel
  3. In the Search box in the upper right corner, type in "user" and hit Enter on your keyboard
  4. From the list, click on Turn User Account Control (UAC) on or off
  5. Check or uncheck 'Use User Account Control (UAC) to help protect your computer' to enable or disable UAC
  6. Click 'Ok'
  7. You will need to restart your computer
