Symptom:

How do I send a scanned image by email?

Solution:

Due to the differences and number of email packages, and the many versions of each, PaperPort does not link to all of them. In many cases, a link may be in development, either from the Email manufacturer, or from Visioneer.

To attach an image for emailing, follow these steps:
  1. Start PaperPort.
  2. Select the desired item or items to be exported by clicking on them. To select more than one item, press and hold the "Ctrl" key while clicking on the image. Once selected, the item(s) should appear with a highlighted border around it.
  3. Click on the FILE drop down menu, then select "Export".
  4. When the "Export" dialog box opens, select the drive and directory that the item will be exported to. This can include removable media drives, such as ZIP or floppy.
  5. In the box labeled "Export files of type", select the format that the image will be exported in. Make certain to export the item in a format that is supported by the application that will be opening the image i.e. BMP, Jpeg, etc.
  6. Name the item in the box labeled "File name", use a name that will be descriptive so you will be able to associate the file to what it is outside of PaperPort.
  7. Click the "OK" button to export the image. A copy of the image that was exported, in the appropriate format, should show up in the location chosen to export to.
  8. Follow the instructions for attaching items, for the email application that you are using.

If you are using an existing link in PaperPort and the file can not be opened by the recipient, please do the following:
  1. Right click on the Email Link icon.
  2. Select Preferences
  3. In the File Attachments area select "Convert all Files" when possible.
  4. In conversion options, from the drop down menu choose Jpeg Image files (*.jpg).
    1. For PaperPort 9.0, 10.0 and 11.0 users, you can choose to have your attachments converted to PDF file format. Your recipient must have Adobe Acrobat Reader installed.
  5. Click on "OK".
  6. Click once on the scanned item.
  7. Click once on the email link.
